Eighteen Pies - PIK

Hello guys! If you ever saw someone took a picture with artificial floral wall, then you should know it's the only one Eighteen Pies, a chic yet pretty café located at Crown Golf PIK. Actually I've known about this place from several months ago, but didn't get any chance to pay a visit and luckily few days ago I went there. Knowing the decoration has changed into Christmas, I felt a bit disappointed but happy at the same time! Because it means Christmas is coming soon hihi.

MAMAIN - Eat Play Repeat

Last Sunday, JiF got a special privilege to be invited to the grand opening of a new kids-friendly café named, MAMAIN (makan & main = eat & play). JiF was very excited because it was his first time to be invited to a café with that concept. The exciting concept itself was created by its founders, which is a group of young, beautiful, and inspiring moms who had personal experience that hardly find a place to catch up with friends, have a meeting while having the kids around with them. So let's take a look at the cute spots!

HawkerCHAN Indonesia

The wait is over! World's cheapest Michelin-starred meal; Liao Fan Hawker Chan - Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle has finally opened in Jakarta. It's originally from Singapore, brought by Hersing Culinary who also manage Tim Ho Wan to Jakarta. A short story about Liao Fan Hawker Chan, it was first established as a humble hawker stall that now has to be the world's cheapest Michelin-starred meal, which managed by Chef Chan Hon Meng. In late 2016, the chef-owner partnered with Hersing Culinary to open a new casual dine-in outlet in Chinatown area. Now, you don't have to go to Singapore to enjoy it!

Nocturnal

Few days ago, I got a chance to visit Nocturnal at PIK area, an owl-themed restaurant with rustic decoration. The place itself was divided into 2 section; first with natural light and instagrammable wall and the second one with dim lights which represented 'nocturnal' theme. I do love the hanging sweet yet fluffy pink roses along with the bird cages. So cool!

Ivy, located at the Brawijaya street, not far from the Dharmawangsa, I would say this is such a hidden gem for you who's looking for a casual yet intimate place to have lunch, dinner, or just chill for a drink. They serve a wide variety of Asian, Indonesian, and Western food. The place might not be spacious, however I like the ambience here and I think you'd better make a rsvp especially for dinner. At first glance, I thought this was a semi fine dining restaurant, but I was wrong, it's basically a casual dining place which 'looks' like a fine dining one. Let's start from their interior which mostly decorated with wooden things.

MONKS

MONKS. Finally, l got a chance to visit this happening place few days ago. Well, I rarely stroll around Kelapa Gading area, because of the crazy traffic seriously. In fact, there's lot of great food there. Back to MONKS, I love their minimalist interior combined with woods, white and grey things. So instragrammable! Especially the iconic wall. The place has 3 floors, which the most beautiful one goes to the third floor. I got very comfortable to have lunch here, and I'll be back for sure when I get around here maybe just for coffee. Let me show you first how cool the place is!

TOF Sicacilla

TOF Sicacilla. I guess that TOF means tarts & coffee. TOF Sicacilla is a tiny yet humble coffee shop which located at the Italian Walk complex of Mall of Indonesia (MOI). It wasn't hard to find it, exactly in front of the MOI's lobby 8. When I came here, there were some people with their notebook and coffee, of course. Yep, this place is such a comfortable place to have coffee and also work. The ambience was nice, but there's no natural light spot like nowadays coffee shops whereas the place has dim lights.

3 places to visit around Glodok Kota Pancoran

Strolling around Glodok Kota Pancoran would be a great idea to do. Not only popular for its Jakarta's Chinatown, but also we can easily find food heaven here even see many historical and vintage buildings. So I was there only for a couple hours and I visited 3 places that I think worth to visit : Pantjoran Tea House, Kopi Es Tak Kie, and Kopi Oey Candranaya.

A Vietnamese-Asian restaurant has just opened at PIK area. It's called Bo&Bun managed by eatcompany.co. Their first establishment in 2014 located in Seminyak, Bali. Decorated with French bistro theme, you can enjoy their exotic dishes with romantic ambience.

De Ploeit Café

Another hang-out place located at North Jakarta, De Ploeit Café. If you're passing by Pluit Selatan road, then you probably recognize a building named De Ploeit Centrale, just opposite Toyota showroom. There's a humble café with indoor and outdoor (for smoking) area on the 2nd floor of the building. Well, let's check it out!

Goodhood Coffee + Kitchen

Goodhood Coffee + Kitchen. I've been stalking their Instagram recently and finally got a chance to pay a visit few days ago. I love that their interior is mostly decorated with wood things. Located at Dipo Business Center, I think their main target is people who work around their neighbourhood. If you aren't familiar with the area, it's located exactly next to Jakarta Design Center (JDC) at Slipi. Well, enough talking, let's start with their interior :

Dill Gourmet Cafe

Dill Gourmet Cafe isn't a new addition to Plaza Indonesia's restaurant list. I've been to here several times before, for their coffee and cakes, but haven't got a chance to write a review yet. This time, I tried their food so I decided to make a review. So here you go :

Miso Gindara with Potato Puree (95k). It's basically baked gindara served with potato puree, grilled asparagus, mushrooms, buttered peas, slow roast tomatoes, and pesto sauce. Start from the gindara itself, unfortunately it was a bit fishy for me. Thankfully the pesto sauce could minimize that. I love the potato puree texture which is so soft and smooth.

Rustic Wagyu Lasagna (65k). Minced wagyu beef, mixed with garlic and onion, layered into classic lasagna. This is the star of the day. I really like the minced wagyu beef, cooked perfectly with beautiful layered traditional lasagna, taste pretty good. The portion was so generous, even with creamy flavor, it maked me super full.

Banana Cream Pie. Banana Cream layered with bananas in a pie shell, topped with a hint of cinammon cream. I love banana cream dessert. And this pie is pretty nice, but the texture of the pie might be a bit tough.

Overall, although there's nothing special with the food which will make a regular here, the rustic wagyu lasagna is a decent choice if you're here. The place is so small, but I love the comfort homey ambiance here, to have coffee and desserts with your friends. I was also amazed that this small cafe serve various main courses, which aren't easily found at other cafe. The service is super nice yet friendly. For the price, is affordable and resonable. FYI, they not only serve main course such as the kind of things I ordered, but they also serve snacks, pasta, pizza, sandwich, coffee, cakes, many more... and healthy drinks. Next time I come here, I'll give the cold-pressed juice a try!
