Applebee's is an American family casual-dining restaurant which offers friendly atmosphere with signature grill and bar menu. As a largest casual-dining chain in the world, they finally open their first flagship in Indonesia, precisely at Plaza Senayan since last December. Until now, they operate in 19 countries, with more than 2000 locations around the world. Well, let's go to the food :
Wonton Tacos (59k). Zesty grilled chicken is chopped and stuffed in crispy wonton shells and topped with crunchy Asian slaw and cilantro. It's such a nice opening as a light appetizer, I like the crispiness of the wonton shells & crunchiness of the Asian slaw, and the tender pieces of the grilled chicken. The wonton itself wasn't oily at all. This tastes so good. Simple yet recommended!
Napa Chicken & Portobellos (119k). A grilled chicken breast topped with Portobello mushrooms and onions smothered in a rich red wine sauce. Served over sauteed zucchini, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, red onions and crispy potatoes. First impression when this dish came to my table is that the portion was huge! But, don't worry it's unbelievably under 600 calories. The chicken breast was cooked perfectly, juicy yet tender and tastes wise but not yet extraordinary. Unfortunately, this dish is lack of sauce, in other words is not enough for the big chicken breast portion. The sauce is also a little bit flavorless for my tastebud, needs a kick. The crispy potatoes and other sauteed things were just okay.
New York Style Cheesecake (69k). Applebee's homemade NY Style Cheesecake served with your choice of strawberry, chocolate or caramel sauce. This time, I chose the strawberry sauce because I think it's the most eye-catching color sauce. For the cheesecake, I honestly don't really like the texture, because it was a bit too dense and not soft & smooth, but it tasted pretty decent and was creamy enough. Personally I like the light, smooth and creamy one. And from the presentation, it was appealing enough, but lack of fresh fruits, so I asked the staffs to give it fresh fruits to make it more beautiful.
Kiwi frozen lemonades (frozen lemonades 22k, add 10k for kiwi). I love frozen drinks coz it's super refreshing, and this was a great deal. FYI, there are several other flavors, such as strawberry, mango, and raspberry.
Oreo Cookie Shakes Vanilla (decadent shakes vanilla 29k, add 10k for oreo cookie). This oreo vanila shakes was a comfort milky drink.

Overall, I personally enjoyed my lunch at Applebee's but not really satisfied. It maybe because I was expecting too much or it's just a matter of taste. In fact, many franchised restaurants opened their first flagship in Indonesia and couldn't maintain their taste and quality of the food as same as the original main franchisee. Nevertheless, it's understandable because quality of the food are different in different countries. However, Applebee's isn't bad though, they should make more food tasting to get the best taste for Jakarta's food lovers. And I'd like to come back to try another dishes, especially their signatures.
For the interior, it was mostly decorated with red, yellow, and green things, from exterior to interior, such as wooden tables & chairs, lamps, and walls in accordance with their theme. At some corner, I found "Jakarta & Indonesia" theme decoration (Garudan sign and Jaya Raya wall), it may be quite random, but I think they just try to make a difference with it. The service was fast and super friendly enough for a newly-opened restaurant. Lastly, their location isn't in strategic location, and not much people will pass and notice the restaurant, they really should increase the promotion, from any mass media to social media.
