HawkerCHAN Indonesia

8:30 PM

The wait is over! World's cheapest Michelin-starred meal; Liao Fan Hawker Chan - Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle has finally opened in Jakarta. It's originally from Singapore, brought by Hersing Culinary who also manage Tim Ho Wan to Jakarta. A short story about Liao Fan Hawker Chan, it was first established as a humble hawker stall that now has to be the world's cheapest Michelin-starred meal, which managed by Chef Chan Hon Meng. In late 2016, the chef-owner partnered with Hersing Culinary to open a new casual dine-in outlet in Chinatown area. Now, you don't have to go to Singapore to enjoy it!

IT'S INCREDIBLY MOUTH-WATERING, ISN'T IT?

Thai Style Tofu (33k). Thinly-sliced tofu which has soft texture and came with refreshing Thai sauce. At first I thought they used mango for the toppings, but I was wrong, in fact they used green apple! It's such a very nice starter.

Soya Sauce Chicken Rice (28k). Mostly people (including me) would think that the chicken was roasted, but actually it was boiled! The chicken was well-marinated with the soya sauce and it has such a tender yet juicy texture. A perfect companion to eat with warm rice! As you can see on the pictures, they also served boiled soya beans to pair with the chicken, but unfortunately it was a bit tasteless. In my opinion, it'll be better if they add salt or pepper or anything to make it flavorful. Anyway, you can ask to add more sauce to the meat to make it saltier.

3 Combination Platter (100k). The combination platter consists of Pork ribs, Roasted pork, and Char siew. All of them were great, came with tender texture. My favorite goes to the roasted pork, perfectly crispy on the top and tender on the center. I suggest you to order the 3 combination to try 'em all.

Roasted Pork Noodle (52k). I'm a fan of thin noodle, and this one reminded me with Hongkong's iconic egg noodle. The noodle was well-cooked with nice texture, accompanied with delish and crispy roasted pork. First thing you have to do is to mix the noodle with the soy & belacan sauce and enjoy it while it's warm. Anyway the belacan sauce wasn't spicy at all as I thought. The noodle itself wasn't too tasteful so it would be a well-balanced pair with the yummy roasted pork.
